Lakeland’s Connect:
Through a formal community needs assessment and strategic planning process, Lakelands Rural Health Network (LRHN) identified Health Information Technology (HIT) as both a major weakness and a major opportunity for the area health care sector. LRHN established two strategic goals related to technology:
- 1) develop a regional collaborative for technology development and health information exchange (HIE), and
- 2) expand utilization of electronic health records (EHR) among primary care providers.
- 3) AccessHealth SC helps communities develop coordinated networks of care that increase access and quality of care for low income uninsured people.
